Went to Derby next where they have some incredible tides of over 7 metres in height and you can see it running in at quite a speed. The pier is also a good spot for spotting large saltwater crocs that are in the area in not a good spot for swimming. Broome was next on the list and an old pearl town and well worth visiting. You can also go for a long drive on Cable Beach which has very white hard sand but have to be careful not to run over any naked sun baking tourists! Went to Malcolm Douglas's crocodile farm who is well known for his adventure 4wd TV programs. The one Jazmyn is sitting on was a fiberglass model taken from one that had died at the farm.

Driving along Cable Beach and Broome Croc farm.

Heading south now along the coast we went to Port Headland which is a large industrial town where a lot of iron ore is shipped around the world. It was then inland to Marble Bar so named because they thought it had large deposits of marble but later turned out to be the more valuable Jasper. It is just lying around everywhere next to the creek and you just through some water over it to bring out the colors.

6 foot chunk of Jasper at Marble Bar and Circular pool at Karijini NP.

The surprise of the trip was the Karijini NP. which had some really deep narrow gorges and if you look at the arrow in the above right photo it points to my wife in blue and daughter in white under the tree to help with the scale. It was really hot with the as usually over 100*F day we were getting up at 4 am to start our hikes before the heat set in. It was then back to the coast to Exmouth which has a great dive reef that is not well know at all and some say is better than the Great Barrier Reef due to the very clear waters and lack of people. We were camped at the beach edge and could snorkel straight off the beach onto the reef which is something you cant do at the Cairns as the reef is an hour boat ride away. There is also a great 4wd track along the coast here that goes on for quite a while but is not on any maps and we were able to swim with turtles and also saw some reef sharks after we got out.

Hiking in Weano Gorge and camping at Ningaloo Reef.

On the way down to Monkey Mia we came across the huge mining dump trucks that were on trailers that had 48 wheels! Monkey Mia is well know because wild dolphins come swimming in and come right up to you and can even touch them. Lisa was also selected to feed a few fish to them but be prepared to wait around for them to arrived as it's totally up to the dolphins come into shore or not. We also went sailing on a racing catamaran to look for dugong's ( sea cows ) but were unsuccessful but enjoyed the sail anyway.

A couple of dump trucks and patting wild dolphins at Monkey Mia.
